Black Type for Garrard

A talented daughter of Golden Slipper winner Sepoy, Garrard was second on debut to Blue Diamond winner Catchy and then second at her next run to Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner Houtzen, so was always going to measure up to Black Type company as we saw at Flemington on Saturday.

Trained by Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young, Garrard broke her maiden with a strong win at Bendigo last start and then ran up to her good form when beating all but blue-blooded Fastnet Rock filly Shoals in the Group III VRC TBV Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes going down by half a length.

A $120,000 Magic Millions purchase from the draft of Turangga Farm, Garrard is the first winner for Fitness, an unraced More Than Ready (USA) daughter of Group III placed Dane Tryst from the family of Group I winners Redding, Leica Smile and Nothin’ Leica Dane.

Turangga Farm have the2017 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale next on the agenda with 11 yearlings entered by a wide variety of sires. Click here to see the draft.
